TecAlliance: Leading the Charge in India’s Aftermarket Evolution

At Automechanika Frankfurt 2024, Rajesh Rajgor spoke with Ravish Deshpande, Managing Director of TecAlliance India & South Asia, about the evolving aftermarket landscape in India. They highlighted the need for standardized data solutions for suppliers and workshops, with Deshpande emphasizing TecAlliance’s commitment to enhancing business opportunities across various segments, including electric vehicles. The conversation highlighted the growing interest in technological advancements and collaborations, positioning TecAlliance as a pivotal player in the future of the Indian aftermarket.

Ravish Deshpande, Managing Director of TecAlliance India & South Asia, highlighted the dynamic landscape of the aftermarket industry in India during a recent conversation at Automechanika Frankfurt 2024. He stressed the importance of this leading global event, remarking, “Automechanika Frankfurt is the biggest aftermarket show in the entire world, and for us, participation from India is quite important.”

He noted a clear demand among Indian exhibitors for standardized data solutions. “A lot of participants at the Expo are looking for standardized data from the aftermarket perspective,” Deshpande explained. TecAlliance is addressing this need by providing tailored solutions, including data for suppliers, distributors, and workshops. “We aim to expand business opportunities for these players both in India and internationally,” he added.

The conversation shifted to the growing demand for customized solutions, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Deshpande highlighted the global acceptance of EVs, alongside a robust market for commercial vehicles in India. “TecAlliance has developed solutions for passenger vehicles and is now actively exploring other segments, including electric vehicles and commercial trucks,” he stated.

Deshpande also pointed out the importance of delivering value to customers. “More than anything, our customers seek the value we provide. Onboarding with TecAlliance offers transparency and authority, which are crucial for suppliers, distributors, and workshops looking to grow their businesses.” This trust in standardized data, he noted, is driving long-term partnerships in the industry.

While he couldn’t disclose specific clients, Deshpande mentioned that TecAlliance collaborates with many suppliers in India to help them create their own catalogs. “They want to establish a presence and expand in the market, so we assist them in building catalogs for their distributors,” he explained. Additionally, there is a rising interest in developing e-commerce platforms to enhance market reach.

The uniqueness of TecAlliance lies in its comprehensive vehicle table, a robust resource developed over the years. “This detailed vehicle table allows us to add any new make or model across different categories,” Deshpande elaborated. Coupled with advanced AI and machine learning tools, this resource enhances the searchability of products across various segments.

Despite its potential, Deshpande acknowledged that the Indian aftermarket remains fragmented and unorganized. However, he is optimistic about the gradual acceptance of standardized data. “We’re seeing a positive shift as players invest in technological solutions, AI, and cataloging systems,” he said. This trend not only strengthens TecAlliance’s presence but also fosters partnerships that benefit the entire industry.

Having established a presence in India over the past five years, TecAlliance is actively onboarding more suppliers onto its platform. “Our goal is to become the go-to aftermarket brand in India, offering a wide range of data solutions to address the industry’s pain points,” Deshpande asserted. He also highlighted the need for collaboration within the industry to build platforms that can support the aftermarket ecosystem.

As the conversation wrapped up, Deshpande noted an encouraging trend in participation at such global events. “The number of players at Automechanica this year was higher than before, and I expect to see even more companies and startups participating in future events,” he concluded. With a steadfast commitment to driving growth and innovation, TecAlliance is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Indian aftermarket.
