Tenneco displayed its latest Clean Air and Ride Performance solutions that reduce emissions, contribute to improved fuel consumption and improve vehicle performance at the 2016 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show.
“Tenneco’s portfolios of Clean Air and Ride Performance technologies are production-ready and meet the needs of our commercial vehicle customers anywhere in the world. From diesel after-treatment solutions designed to meet stringent emission regulations to complete ride control systems and NVH solutions for a superior operator driving experience, Tenneco delivers commercial vehicle systems that are cleaner, quieter, and smoother” said Tim Jackson, Chief Technology Officer, Tenneco.
BS VI readiness
In compliance with current BS VI regulations for on-road trucks, Tenneco has developed a compact and modular one-box solution that includes all required exhaust after-treatment components, such as DOC, DPF and SCR converters as well as the company’s proprietary advanced mixing technology. The concept box also features advanced technologies designed to support further reductions in NOx emissions and In-Service Conformity (ISC) requirements, including thermal management solutions such as lightweight fabricated manifolds and active heaters to support low temperature NOx efficiency. Another important focus for the commercial vehicle market, driven by total cost of ownership and CO2 legislation, is waste heat recovery. Tenneco is developing solutions to provide or integrate heat exchangers into the Euro VI box as a key component of Rankine cycle-based systems that convert wasted exhaust heat into mechanical power.
Says Pankaj Kapoor, Deputy Managing Director, Tenneco Automotive India Pvt. Ltd: “Our product comes with unique features of being compact and modular in design, it has a serviceable DPF, Thermally insulated and advanced Tenneco mixing technology and we have experience of working with top OEMs in India in the run up to the preparation for BSIV.”
Shedding light on the testing facilities, Naresh Phansalkar, Director Engineering, Clean AIR, Tenneco Automotive India Pvt. Ltd said, “We have got test facilities in India and also global test centres in Europe, USA and China to design, develop and integrate the complex after treatment like BSVI into Indian applications.”
When you have an SCR system you can calibrate your engine to high NOx system, enabling the vehicle to give you high fuel economy, longer oil change intervals, cleaner oils, engine runs longer, smoother and efficiently. Tenneco has a state of the art manufacturing facility for SCR in Chakan, Pune and given their global experience in SCR after treatment and clean air solutions, it can a play a crucial role in helping Indian OEMs achieve the BSVI emission norms by 2020.
