Transport Solutions India (TSI) has state-of-the-art production facilities in Pune for the manufacturing of varied trailers, tippers, tip trailers, tankers, etc. TSI has 3 joint ventures and 3 wholly-owned business units. Mr. Manoj Varghese, Head – Sales and Marketing, comments on the segment developments.
Please brief us your tippers & tip trailers program and the application segments to which the above are being supplied.
TSI specializes in manufacture of tippers from 5 CuM to 24 CuM. The tippers are mostly made for OEM supply, viz., MAN, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland and Kamaz.
Tip-trailers are made as per specific customer requirements from 24 Cum to 44 Cum. However in Tip-Trailers, the maximum supply has been to mining and aggregates transportation.
Do you undertake the body fabrication, mounting and integration of hydraulic systems or focus only on fabrication? Tell us about your production facilities.
We do entire fabrication and mounting for all the companies mentioned above. We use frontend tipping kits manufactured in India. TSI has a state-of-art plant with in-house plasma cutting, shearing shot blasting and paint booths. Our quality control department is trained by us and are effectively kept on their toes to make sure that the customer is happy and the body built meets the CMVR and the OEM’s demands.
Mining tippers – is it in your supply scope? What are the special technical features and quality norms to be met in attending to such work orders?
Mining tippers have been manufactured by us for MAN for construction of a heated floor tipper for mining. Here the Quality norms are mostly set by the OEM and audited during the course of manufacture.
Brief us about your tip trailer supply program. Do you undertake work for OEMs / direct customers or both? Fully built tipper – do you see an increasing trend in end users approaching OEMs for the same?
Tip-trailers are mostly customer specific and the OEM involvement is till the supply of the PTO kit. We have manufactured a number of tip-trailers of various sizes for all types of applications.
We do undertake work of both OEM and direct customers. Whereas the production for OEM is a continuous process with a credit period, the direct customers are more specific for the requirements and the changes will vary from customer to customer.
In the current market scenario the demand for the local fabricated tipper bodies has reduced considerably with the users getting finance for a fully built vehicle and also a full warranty for the vehicle and the body.
Repair work, retrofitting, and after sales service – tell us about your set-up details. Comment on the demands, growth prospects and company’s expansion plans.
TSI has a service network with 57 ASC points across the country, enabling us to repair and support customers on major routes in India. With the increase in infrastructure development in the country, the sales of tippers and tip-trailers has increased considerably and we are in process to build up the facility to cater to the demand. The company is planning to expand within our facilities in Chennai, Pune and Pithampur. We also plan to install new equipment and fixtures for more production.
