In the transportation sector, Transystem Logistics International (P) has been a major player because of its approach to customer service, points out Managing Director Yosuke Kawakami
Changes that have transformed Indian logistics / road transport sector over the last decade: I would like to point out three such positive changes:
• Improvement in road condition.
• Removal of Sales Tax at check posts.
• Introduction of FASTag for toll payment.
Top two challenges and ways to address them: The first is driver shortage. My suggestion is that the government should take the initiative to start driving schools in different regions, give them license post-training and make available this resource to the transport industry. Second is the harassment at RTO check posts. My suggestion is that there must be ‘one nation, one RTO’ rules and secondly, the verification of documents must be through the RFID system.
Company’s success secrets:
There are some success triggers such as:
• Bad news first approach by the top management.
• Root cause analysis for any kind of abnormality, taking proper countermeasures to address the issue with PDCA i.e. ‘Plan, Do, Check and Act’ to stop recurrence.
• Development of Kaizen (continuous improvement) mindset among all the staff and drivers from the first day itself.
FY22 company turnover: Rs. 4,700 million
