After the emergence of automobile hubs like Chennai, Gurgaon and Pune, now Gujarat is all set to become yet another major hub for automobiles, thanks to the good governance of the State. Already, leading automobile OEMs like Maruti-Suzuki, Tata Motors and Ford have chosen Gujarat as their destination for future expansion with massive investments.

In keeping with this trend, TÜV Rheinland India, a subsidiary of the German-based TÜV Rheinland Group, a worldwide leader in testing, training, inspection, consulting and certification, has set up its new office in Ahmedabad. This is the company’s second office in Gujarat, the first one being in Vadodara. The State is a fast growing and industrially developed one, providing ample opportunities for TÜV Rheinland India to provide its services across industries.

Announcing this, Mr. Enrico Ruhle, CEO & Managing Director, TÜV Rheinland South Asia, said: “Ahmedabad and the nearby areas have a major concentration of garment manufacturers and exporters. The softlines business of TÜV Rheinland India, which primarily helps the manufacturers and exporters of garments, home soft furnishings and jewellery to maintain their brand positioning by testing and certifying their product for quality, safety & performance requirements, will cater to this segment.”

He was happy to note that the infrastructure sector is also growing rapidly in Ahmedabad. The Government has proposed a mass-transit rail system, MEGA. The project aims to build a metro-cum-regional rail transit system which would connect the cities of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. The Union Government has allotted $2 million to MEGA for FY 2013-14. TÜV Rheinland, with its vast global experience in the railway segment, will tap this market in metro rail by offering independent safety assessment inspection, auditing, certification, training, consultancy, RAMS and testing services for products like electrical products, signalling & telecom, etc.”

In India, TÜV Rheinland has over 100 locations and has 12 state-of-the-art laboratories and testing facilities. TÜV Rheinland India currently employs over 1,000 highly skilled professionals. As an independent body, TÜV Rheinland inspects, tests, certifies products, people, installations, processes and management systems for international standards.

“TÜV Rheinland India is doing well with a 40% growth year on year. Though the company has 6 business streams globally but in India only 5 are active (Industrial Services, Products, Mobility, Systems and Training & Consulting). All 5 business streams have performed consistently in the last few years, and they will perform even better in future,” added Mr. Ruhle.
