Varroc eyes growth by leveraging EV trends

Pramod Chaudhary, Head (Advance Engineering), Varroc Engineering

Varroc Engineering Limited, a global Tier I automotive component supplier, has unveiled solutions for evolving automotive needs, more specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). Pramod Chaudhary, Head (Advance Engineering), Varroc Engineering, spoke to Rajesh Rajgor about his company’s offerings and its mission to leverage growth in the EV space

Product Mix for EVs

Varroc Engineering has showcased all its EV products with a complete range from two-wheelers, three-wheelers and SCV components. We have a range of products at display here right from motors, controllers, DC connectors, chargers, gear parts, etc. We also make small parts of the battery which is BMS. We make solutions for the complete power-train. Apart from this, we have lighting solutions which are agnostic to power-trains. In EVs, as efficiency is the key focus, we have LED lights and not filament lamps to leverage our command in LED lightings.

We also have connectivity solutions and complete telematic platforms. These platforms include the hardware that goes on the vehicle and cloud solutions of analytics. We have displays, almost the same for ICE and EV. However, for some OEMs we have come up with 7 inch TFT displays. Currently, a lot of these products are in production with some of the major OEMs. Our TFT instrument cluster, which uses the most up-to-date technology, adds to our already robust product line.

Our goal in this industry is to constantly update our product portfolios in response to the market and client demands. Our mission is to expand by utilising automotive trends such as the need to be more environmentally friendly, safer, smarter and connected. Integrated starter generator (ISG), adaptive lighting and static bending are some of our solutions that satisfy the increasing demand for fuel efficiency and safety. We also have traction motors, controllers, DC-DC converters and battery management systems for electric mobility as well as advanced telematics for connected vehicle solutions.

Edge over Competition

We pay special attention to end-user needs and how they use our products. We incorporate end-user feedback into our designs to build products that benefit them the most. The extra features that we include in our products set us apart from the competitors. Our electrical-electronic business has been able to cope with ever-evolving technology, market conditions and growing demand for over two decades because of our flexible and lean production methodology. Varroc Engineering’s key strengths are used to design, develop and produce automotive components for India’s leading OEMs.

We back up our product design with world-class production resources, including an electronics PCB fabrication plant. This enables us to deliver a complete solution to satisfy our customers’ requirements. Varroc Engineering is favoured as an ‘early development partner’ for OEMs because of its ability to provide world-class, end-to-end supplier solutions in design, development, testing and validation, manufacturing, and supply chain management. We cater to the specific requirements of all our customers by offering them personalised solutions to fulfil their end consumer needs, given the diverse customer base we service. Despite the pandemic and commodity price increases, we have been able to manage the supply chain fairly efficiently.

We have ensured that we deliver on our promises. We can swiftly look at replacement of ‘part a’ with ‘part b’ along with thorough validation required for best performance because most components are developed in-house with excellent development skills at our command. In our Chakan unit we have the largest assembly production line where we manufacture all the electronic components. We have also set up a motor plant in Aurangabad with a monthly capacity of 10,000 motors. EV penetration in India will increase and with Varroc Engineering’s strength in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler components’ area for ICE, we will be able to keep up with megatrends in the EV space.
