For over two decades, the Dutch-based company VB-Airsuspension has brought world-class suspension solutions to the global marketplace. The company has introduced multiple-suspension and air-suspension solutions for light commercial vehicles (LCVs) with its focus on the top-15 LCVs sold in Europe.
VB-Airsuspension provides solutions for multiple applications like ambulances, buses, coaches and recreational vehicles with its products offering higher comfort, better driveability and enhanced safety for LCVs. It is working together with leading vehicle manufacturers like Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and Volkswagen in different parts of the world, based on which it has received several OEM approvals which stand testimony to the quality of its products.
Apart from being a leading Tier-I OEM supplier, the company also offers its products in the aftermarket segment, supplying to more than 40 countries worldwide through five majority-owned subsidiaries and a network of importers and partners. It also works with leading component suppliers to ensure the world-class product quality and performance level.
In vehicles such as ambulances, every second counts, especially if a patient needs to be transported quickly in case of an emergency. It is essential that the patient, driver and the ambulance crew are transported with as much safety, comfort and speed as possible. Air-suspensions improve the ride comfort for passengers on-board, making it an important feature in vehicles such as ambulances, a fact confirmed by several tests performed by VB-Air in co-operation with independent institutions. Today, the largest ambulance builders throughout Europe use full air-suspension products from VB-Airsuspension.
Indian market
VB-Air believes in working together with local partners in different markets to adapt its products to suit the local requirements and conditions. The suspension specialist is adopting the same approach for the Indian LCV market as well, and in the last two years it has started working on suspension systems to meet the local Indian requirements.
Mr. Iginio Voorhorst, CEO, VB-Airsuspension, says: “We are optimistic and realistic about our growth prospects in the Indian automotive segment and are keen on working with Indian OEMs in the field of air-suspensions. We are known for our innovative products and collaborate with our customers in new product and platform developments. We see European OEMs co-operating with Indian OEMs to share LCV platforms. Since we have already developed a wide range of suspension products for these platforms, we can help the OEMs reduce the initial development cost and even, more importantly, reduce the time needed to introduce the products into the market.”
VB-Airsuspension will be exhibiting its products at the forthcoming Auto Expo-Component Show – Hangar H7/Stand No.4. A demo vehicle will be available outside the booth to give a ride experience to visitors, showcasing the enhancement in comfort and other advantages due to its suspension products. The first VB-Air product to be introduced in the Indian market will be a full air-suspension for the rear axle of Force Motors Traveller 3350/3700. The first prototype is ready and will be put on trial runs during the next few months.
VB-Air is convinced that the Indian LCV market will recover after a difficult year in 2013. The company’s strategy includes working with a network of Indian partners which would enable it to provide extensive product support to its customers across the country. It has already identified a local partner for the Indian market, details of which would be disclosed during Auto Expo.
