The integration of the E-Way Bill – which is electronically generated for the specific consignment or movement of goods from one place to another, either inter-state or intra-state and of value more than Rs. 50,000 – with the Vahan System of Transport Department has raised a few queries among the users. The FAQ issued by the government provides the answers
What is verification of vehicle number in EWB portal?
The E-Way Bill has been integrated with Vahan System of Transport Department. Vehicle number entered in an E-Way Bill will now be verified with the Vahan System. If the vehicle number is not available in the system, the user will get an alert message about the non-availability of the number in our database. However, later, such vehicle numbers will not be allowed for the generation of E-Way Bill.
Why am I getting an alert message when I enter my vehicle number in the E-Way Bill?
The vehicle number entered in the EWB is not available in the Vahan System database. You are requested to check and update the vehicle registration with your concerned Regional Transport Office (RTO); otherwise after sometime this vehicle number will not be allowed for E-Way Bill generation.
When I enter my vehicle number, I get a message that the vehicle is registered with more than one RTO. What should I do?
This message indicates that the vehicle details are found with more than one RTO. You need to approach your RTO and request for updating the details. Once that is done, this message will not appear again. If this is not done, at a later stage it will be treated as a vehicle number that is not existent and may not be allowed for E-Way Bill generation.
In spite of having a valid RC for my vehicle, I am getting an alert message from the portal. What can I do?
In case the vehicle number entered in the E-Way Bill is registered and the system is still sending an alert message, it is suggested that you contact the concerned RTO. Once the vehicle details are updated in the Vahan System, the status in the E-Way Bill system will get updated too.
How do I check if my vehicle number is available in the Vahan System?
Vahan System provides a nationwide search over the digitised data of registered vehicles. You can always check your vehicle number in the system using the following link: https://vahan.nic.in/nrservices/faces/user/searchstatus.xhtml.
I am unable to find my vehicle details on the Vahan System. How do I get the details added?
You need to visit your RTO with the original RC and other documents and get the details updated in the Vahan System database.
I am moving vehicles with temporary registration. Will these vehicle numbers be allowed for E-Way Bill registration?
If the vehicle number is with temporary registration, the details are not verified. Therefore, enter the temporary number starting with TR.
The details of my vehicle number are shown on the Vahan website but not available on the E-Way Bill portal. What should I do?
You can contact the E-Way Bill Help Desk and submit your grievance. Specify the vehicle number which is there in the Vahan System but not available on the E-Way Bill portal.
