The New Delhi-based Vinni Chemicals belongs to an elite list of front-runners when it comes to coolant technology and know-how in the Indian market. The company, which is into custom labelling and customer branding, is a pioneer in the field of brake fluids and radiator coolants, working as a solutions provider for many reputed brands both within India and abroad. Established in 1986, Vinni Chemicals was focused on research and development for nearly two decades before it forayed into manufacturing coolants and fluids in 2006, adding a string of high-profile customers in quick time.
Indicative of the company’s technical prowess, its CEO, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Jain, is part of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) that creates the standards for coolants and is actively involved in raising the bar when it comes to coolant technology in the country, contributing to improved safety and better environmental care in the process.
In an exclusive chat with MOTORINDIA, Mr. Jain says: “We are a technology company and have a huge variety of formulations available at any given point of time, for any type of requirement be it low-cost or high-end. We have technical tie-ups with companies like Prestone which have been in the field since 1927, so we don’t have to invent the wheel again. Our Technical Director is based out of the US and has more than 50 patents. We cater to all segments, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, off-highway and even railways, and our coolants are approved by a number of OEMs from across these segments.”
Technology focus
Vinni Chemicals made an impressive display of its products and tech capability at ACMA Automechanika this year, drawing attention from various profiles of visitors who were interested in knowing more about what the company has to offer. “We participated in ACMA Automechanika primarily to capture the attention of OEMs, marketing teams, radiator manufacturers and anyone else who wanted to launch brake fluids. We wanted to focus on the technology we can offer and not the brands we work with, which is why we showcased a range of our products. We wanted to create awareness among people who wish to know about the usage of such products and also to give them technical details. At the fair, we launched our new DOT 4 Brake Fluid which is the only product today that can eliminate the need for replacing the additive once every two years. We received tremendous response for the new product because not even Europeans have such a product at present. Such is our capability in terms of introducing path-breaking and innovative technology”, explains the CEO.
Apart from catering to the needs of home-grown players, Vinni Chemicals also works with a number of international brands and has licensing arrangements with some of them in India. The company has a manufacturing plant at Barotiwala in Himachal Pradesh that currently produces close to 400 kl tonnes per month, despite operating at only around 35 per cent of its total installed capacity. The coolant-maker has recently commenced operations at its new facility in Assam that further increases its future-readiness as far as production capacity is concerned.
Having registered a growth of close to 30 per cent in FY17, despite highly challenging market conditions, Vinni Chemicals aims to clock a turnover of around Rs. 40 crores in FY18, as it prepares for further growth towards the end of the decade.
