Introduces innovative tilt switch sensing device
Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIE) is among the largest hydraulic cylinder manufacturers in the country as also at the global level. The company, a regular participant at EXCON, presented a vertical underbody tipping product along with an innovative tilt switch sensing device at the latest edition of the event held in Bangalore last December.
Said Mr. Vasudevan R, Senior Vice President & Head – Global Sales, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering: “We have launched a tilt switch sensing device which is a very innovative product and an important one from a truck stability and safety perspective. Though certain products are not mandated by law in the Indian market, we would like to take the lead by bringing in such solutions as a result of which fleet operators would take safety as a critical factor and volunteer to adhere to safe practices. Based on our demonstration, the expression of interest for the product has been excellent from both OEMs as well as tipper and fleet owners.”
WIE believes the Indian CV market is heading in the right direction as far as safety is concerned, owing primarily to the good work being done by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). “They (MoRTH) are gradually bringing in tighter control on safety; though they are unable to implement them immediately, they are certainly stepping things up. The more steps the Ministry takes, the more the market will be safety conscious. We have introduced our tilt switch sensing device on those lines and will come out with more innovative products to enhance safety in the near future”, he added.
Buoyed by positive traction in the market, WIE plans to introduce a string of new products in line with the OEM requirements. Shared Mr. Vasudevan: “We have presented a vertical underbody tipping product that has received very good response from our customers. We have also moved higher into the FC series where we are now offering the FC 191 series. After EXCON, we will be coming out with more new products that are currently under field trials. We see there is good movement towards heavy trucks and trailers in the market and are well in line with the trend, getting products ready for meeting the needs of the OEMs as and when required.”
After a challenging first half, the second half of FY18 has been extremely positive for WIE and also for the tipper market in toto. The company expects demand to grow sharply post-FY18 and is fully geared up for the exciting phase ahead. “Looking at industry estimates, the industry will grow by around 10% this year and we will definitely be bettering it. In terms of numbers, we are No.1 in truck hydraulics and in terms of value we are among the top two. With our new product launches coming up, we have a lot of scope for growth and will continue to outpace the industry”, he concluded.
