Being the global market leader in the field, the company is very strong in technology and is geared to cater to the BS IV, BS V and higher emission standard requirements in the Indian market. At present, the company supplies products for BS III applications in the commercial vehicle industry and is also developing partners for exhaust decouplers for some BS IV applications in India.
“We are waiting for the BS IV and BS V norms to be implemented for our products to have a bigger market. If our customers have to export vehicles, our products will have to conform to the more advanced emission norms prevalent in other markets. India is also looking at environmental issues, but it is also a question of money because the product cost increases while we should also have the right kind of fuel”, said Mr. Wolfgang Weinbrecht, Director – Commercial Vehicles and Engines Division, Witzenmann GmbH, in a casual chat with MOTORINDIA.
Witzenmann has a dominant position in the passenger car segment in India with a major share, while it continues to widen its presence in the CV space. The company, like almost all others, is optimistic of good growth during 2015, thanks to the progressive steps being taken by the new government at the Centre.
“We are very strong in passenger cars in the Indian market and are now focusing on the commercial vehicle segment. When the industry grows, our customers will sell more, and we will participate in the growth. Everybody hopes that the Modi Government’s overall approach will have a positive influence on the industry. We hope for the same and believe there will be a huge change in the Indian market within the next two to five years”, added Mr. Weinbrecht.
