MV Subbiah
On the Republic Day this year, the President of India
approved 109 Padma Awards comprising five Padma
Vibhushan, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77 Padma Shri
Awards.
Mr. B. Muthuraman, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Ltd., was
among the awardees, receiving the Padma Bhushan Award.

Mr. Muthuraman who holds degrees in
Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical
Engineering from IIT, Madras and a Mas-
ters of Business Administration from XLRI,
Jamshedpur, joined Tata Steel in 1966 and
has held various positions in the company,
including as Vice President (Marketing &
Sales) and Vice President (Cold Rolling Mill
Projects).
Mr. MV Subbiah, former Chairman of the
Murugappa Group and of the National Skill
Development Corporation (NSDC), has
been conferred the Padma Bhushan Award
for his distinguished service in trade and in-
dustry.
On receiving the honour, he said: “I have always felt
that such an honour, though awarded to an individual,
is a recognition of the team work. In my case, this is an
honour for the great work done by the teams at the Mu-
rugappa Group and NSDC.”
