ZF manufactures truck transmis-
sions at its facility in Pune where
it recently crossed production of
1,000 units. Mr. Mandeep Bhalla,
CEO & Sr. Vice President, ZF In-
dia, said: “Before the plant was in-
augurated, we had 15,000 9-speed
transmissions in the Indian market,
which were imported. We were able
to get enough information about the
product that we needed, and now we
have the product in the market man-
ufactured within the country. We
have produced 5,000 transmissions
and we have had a remarkably low
number of failures in the first sup-
ply, in such a severe market. And,
as the demand increases, we will be
looking to utilise the plant’s full ca-
pacity of 25,000 units.”
