Namakkal Auto Fair 2012
to attract
more mechanics, fleet operators
For the first time in the annuals of the Namakkal Mo-
tor Spare Parts Dealers Association, an auto show – the
Namakkal Auto Fair 2012 – is being organised during
August 10-12. The venue for the fair is apter, consid-
ering the growing activities there associated with the
automotive sector in general and the commercial ve-
hicle segment in particular. The event organisers have
made special efforts to ensure presence of the maxi-
mum number of mechanics, fleet operators, etc., from
and around the Namakkal region.
Namakkal, an eco-friendly city, is known for its lor-
ry body building industry, and there are at least 150
automobile retailers, with their subsidiaries operating
there since 1960. Giant lorries, trailers, and LPG tank-
ers are a common sight on the city roads, and it is thus
known as the ‘Transport City’. It is also famous as the
“Egg City” since eggs are produced and distributed on
a massive scale to different parts of the country.
At a given time, there are 40,000 lorries, 5,000 tank-
ers, 15,000 trailors, 2,000 tippers and 5,000 other types
of goods carrying vehicles plying on the Namakkal
roads. With such extensive industrial and transport
operations, Namakkal is also appropriately called the
‘Transport Hub of India’.
In the last decade, the auto parts scenario in the coun-
try has undergone a sea-change. Still unorganized sec-
tor mechanics have no means of learning the advanced
and sophisticated technology being used in heavy com-
mercial engines and in the construction of truck and
bus bodies.
The organisers of the Namakkal Auto Fair intend
bringing these modern developments to the doorstep
of hundreds of mechanics in the South, particularly the
areas surrounding Namakkal. On display will be differ-
ent parts, spares and assemblies of engines and chas-
sis of almost all heavy and light commercial vehicles,
cars, tractors, motorcycles and scooters, as also most
stylishly and aesthetically designed modern buses.
The technical seminars organised by manufacturing
industries for the benefit of mechanics will have experts
to clear the several points raised during the discussion.
Students from many engineering colleges within the
city and neighbouring areas have been invited to have
first-hand knowledge of the great strides made by the
automobile sector to beat the mounting competition.
Not less than 20,000 discerning visitors are expected
at the fair. The exhibitors can rest assured of ample
space for projection of their products and processes,
with adequate back-up facilities.
