Reinhardt, new President & CEO of
Voith Turbo
Carsten J. Reinhardt has been appointed President and CEO
of Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG. As of July 1, 2012, he will
succeed Dr. Hubert Lienhard who had held this function since
January 1 last.
Mr. Reinhardt has nearly 20 years of international man-
agement experience in the areas of commercial vehicles and
powertrain manufacturing. He holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Uni-
versity of Esslingen, Germany, and a Master of Science de-
gree in Automobile Engineering from the University of Hert-
fordshire, UK.
He started his professional career in 1993 in the Commer-
cial Vehicle Division of the former Mercedes-Benz AG, now
Daimler AG, in Stuttgart. Following assignments of increasing
responsibility in Manufacturing Engineering at Freightliner
Corporation, he became Vice President and General Manager
of Western Star Trucks in 2001 and was appointed President
and CEO of Daimler Trucks’ North American Engine busi-
ness, Detroit Diesel Corporation, in 2003.

N.V. Balachandar joins AL
as new HR head
Ashok Leyland has announced the appointment of Mr. N.V. Balach-
andar as the new Executive Director - Human Resources. He brings
with him over 20 years of rich experience in the field of HR that in-
cludes considerable stints with the Taj Group of Hotels where he start-
ed his career, and the Aditya Birla Group.
He takes over from Mr. Shekhar Arora, who was with the company
for more than 30 years and will continue his association with it in the
capacity of Executive Director, HR - Strategy, and, at the same time,
mentor Mr. Balachandar during the transition.
Mr. Balachandar is an accomplished trainer certified by the Nation-
al Training Laboratory of the US and has extensive experience in organizational restructuring for business
growth. Associated with many HR industry bodies, he has also been recognized as an Outstanding HR Profes-
sional for two consecutive years.
